Online Multiscale Finite Element Simulation of Thermo-Mechanical Model with Phase Change

This paper presents a thermo-mechanical model with phase transition considering changes in the mechanical properties of medium. The proposed is described by system partial differential equations for temperature and displacements. In model, soil deformations occur due to porosity growth caused ice water density differences. A finite-element approximation this on fine grid presented. linearization from previous time step used handle nonlinearity problem. For reducing size discrete problem, offline online multiscale approaches based Generalized Multiscale Finite Element Method (GMsFEM) are proposed. two-dimensional problem simulating heaving process heterogeneous stiff inclusion was considered testing mathematical approaches. Numerical solutions depict transition. movement interface observed. change medium properties, including elastic modulus, traced corresponds interface. significantly reduce while maintaining reasonable accuracy. However, approach achieves better accuracy than fewer degrees freedom.
